ENVO Next Move 2026–27 is a free, global design contest built around one real modular electric platform: UPT.
Most new vehicles are built from scratch, which is slow and expensive. With Next Move, we hand you a real, modular electric platform called UPT and invite you to imagine the vehicle the world needs next. It could be a farm hauler, a delivery pod, a camp vehicle, an accessible ride, or something nobody has thought of yet.
You do not need to be a professional designer. Designers, businesses, builders, students and first-timers are all welcome.
The short version: design a vehicle on ENVO's UPT platform, or simply explain your idea in writing, and submit it by February 15, 2027. Entry is free and open to everyone, everywhere. One winner takes home an ENVO e-bike.
Back for a Second Round
This is the second ENVO Next Move. The first contest drew a strong international response, and one winning idea grew into the very UPT platform you will design on today.
Why Design on UPT
UPT is one modular electric base, the chassis, battery and drive, that many different vehicles can be built on top of. That means you can focus on the job your vehicle does instead of reinventing everything underneath.
Reuse a common chassis, drive and battery across many kinds of vehicle.
Spend your energy on the part that makes your vehicle special.
Reconfigure the layout, body and equipment as needs change.
Make building and servicing simpler and more consistent.
To get started, try the UPT configurator or explore the platform on Modular-EV.
What You Could Win
One grand-prize winner takes home an ENVO e-bike of their choice, the D50 or ST50. Designs and written ideas compete for the same prize, so a strong idea counts just as much as a polished render.
Three standout early entries will be featured at ENVO's booth at CES 2027 in Las Vegas, shown with the creator's name. You do not need to attend to be featured.
Key Dates
You do not need a finished concept to register.
Proposed cutoff to be considered for the three CES featured concepts.
Featured concepts on display at ENVO's booth in Las Vegas.
Entries close at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
The final winner is announced.
How Entries Are Judged
Designs and written ideas are judged the same way, on five things:
- Usefulness: does it solve a clear problem for an identifiable user?
- Originality: does it offer a distinct application, arrangement or improvement?
- UPT compatibility: is its relationship to the platform clear and credible?
- Feasibility: are operation, safety, ergonomics and development needs considered?
- Potential demand: is there a convincing reason people or organizations would use it?
Good to know
- Enter on your own or as a team of up to four, including on behalf of a business.
- Each individual or team may submit one concept, written in English.
- AI-generated designs and renders are not eligible.
- You keep ownership of your original work.
Where the Last Contest Led
In the first Next Move, Alan Tam proposed NEXT-GEN, a modular electric platform for several different uses. His concept won Gold among hundreds of international entries. Alan joined ENVO, bringing industrial design into the engineering effort that developed toward UPT.
Your proposal could show us the next application, capability or partner we have not discovered yet.
Design the Next Move.
Bring your design, your know-how, or just a good idea. Final entries close February 15, 2027.
