What is the ENVO Next Move mobility design contest?

Next Move is ENVO's global design contest. We hand you a real, modular electric platform called UPT and invite you to imagine the vehicle the world needs next. It could be a farm hauler, a delivery pod, a camp vehicle, an accessible ride, or something nobody has thought of yet.

You do not need to be a professional designer. Enter with a polished concept or simply a clear written idea. Designers, businesses, builders, students and first-timers are all welcome.

This is the second ENVO Next Move. The first, back in 2022–23, drew 382 entries from 34 countries, and one winning idea grew into the very UPT platform you will design on today.

Why one shared platform?

Most new vehicles are built from scratch, which is slow and expensive. ENVO takes a different path. UPT is one modular electric base (the chassis, battery and drive) that many different vehicles can be built on top of.

That means you can focus on the part that matters, the job your vehicle does, instead of reinventing everything underneath. Where could that idea take us? That is what this challenge is about.

What building on UPT gives you

Start from a shared base

Reuse a common chassis, drive and battery across many kinds of vehicle.

Focus on your idea

Spend your energy on the part that makes your vehicle special.

Adapt it to the job

Reconfigure the layout, body and equipment as needs change.

Reuse parts and know-how

Make building and servicing simpler and more consistent.

What you could win

One grand-prize winner takes home an ENVO e-bike of their choice, the D50 or ST50. Designs and written ideas compete for the same prize, so a strong idea counts just as much as a polished render.

Three standout early entries are also featured at ENVO's booth at CES 2027 in Las Vegas, shown with your name. You do not need to attend to be featured.

Designs and written ideas are judged the same way, on five things.

Usefulness

Does it solve a clear problem for an identifiable user?

Originality

Does it offer a distinct application, arrangement or improvement?

UPT compatibility

Is its relationship to the platform clear and credible?

Feasibility

Are operation, safety, ergonomics and development needs considered?

Potential demand

Is there a convincing reason people or organizations would use it?

See where the first Next Move led

In the first ENVO Next Move, Alan Tam proposed NEXT-GEN, a modular electric platform for several different uses. His concept won Gold among hundreds of international entries.

Alan joined ENVO, bringing industrial design into the engineering effort that developed toward UPT. Your proposal could show us the next application, capability or partner we have not discovered yet.

Frequently asked questions

Who can take part?

This is a global contest. Participants from all countries are welcome, subject to applicable law. Enter individually or as a team of up to four, including on behalf of a business. Younger entrants need parent or guardian consent where applicable.

What language should I use?

Submit your written explanation, board text and required concept information in English so the international jury can evaluate entries consistently.

Do I need to be a designer?

No. You can submit a written idea in English without a render or drawing. Explain the user’s need and how your vehicle would use UPT.

Are designs and ideas judged separately?

No. Every eligible entry is evaluated in one competition using the same criteria and competes for the same grand prize.

Can we enter as a team?

Yes. Teams may include up to four people. Name all members and appoint one contact person. A winning team receives one e-bike.

Can I submit more than one concept?

Each individual or team may submit one concept. You can include multiple configurations of that concept and revise it before the deadline.

Can I use AI-generated images?

No. AI-generated designs and renders are ineligible, including generated visuals used as the basis of a design. Use your own drawings, CAD, conventional renders or ENVO configurator outputs.

Can I enter during or after CES?

Yes. Registration and submissions stay open until February 15, 2027. The early cutoff applies only to CES showcase consideration.

Who owns my submission?

You keep ownership of your original work. ENVO receives permission to display and promote it with creator credit for the contest. Any commercial development is a separate agreement.

Will ENVO manufacture the winning concept?

Selection does not promise manufacturing, employment or a development contract. ENVO may contact participants to discuss a potential collaboration.
