The Environmental Benefits Of Riding An Ebike
ENVO Ebikes Compliant With Eco-Fee Reading The Environmental Benefits Of Riding An Ebike 5 minutes Next What Is Q Factor And How It Affects Your Riding

The ebike is a bustling invention, and with many models on the market, they’re gaining popularity over other modes of transportation. With society being more environmentally conscious, it’s not surprising to see a surge in ebike sales, especially with spring and summer right around the corner. For the environment, this is great news because more people on ebikes means less in cars. The ebike market is suited to match any lifestyle and rider’s ability. One of the great things about an ebike is that it allows you to travel extensive distances with ease, and some models can ultimately replace your gas-powered vehicles! Ebikes have become so popular in North America because of their environmental benefits. We highlighted some key reasons why ebikes are good for the environment as your next mode of transportation.

Ebikes Use Eco-friendly Batteries

Envo ebikes use an A-grade lithium-ion battery which is super lightweight. These batteries are better for the environment than lead-acid batteries since they don’t contain acid. Acid can be harmful if it leaks and make the batteries harder to recycle. ENVO is part of the British Columbia Recycling Regulation which means you can properly recycle your ebike according to the recycling regulation. Most if not all ebike batteries are rechargeable, so there’s no need to throw them out after one use. They are made to be recharged and can last a couple of years. ENVO batteries can last 500 charges. If you charge your battery every day, it will last two years. If you charge twice a week, it will last five years. Our batteries are the best in the market, and it is best practice to only charge if your battery is at 20% or less. Like all batteries, eventually, you will notice a gradual drop-off in max range capability; when the range falls below 70%, contact your local ENVO dealer to purchase a new battery.

Ebikes Have A Lower Carbon Footprint

“If Canadian motorists avoided unnecessary idling for just three minutes every day of the year, it would prevent 630 million litres of fuel from being wasted and 1.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide from being needlessly pumped into the environment. Annually, that would be the equivalent of taking 320,000 cars off of the road!” – Government Of Canada

These are one of the most significant benefits an ebike has over a car. Riding an ebike or a manual bike emits zero emissions. Imagine all the times you idle in your car sitting in traffic. On an ebike, you can zoom by and get to your destination just as fast or even faster! This change alone can significantly reduce your carbon footprint.

Ebikes Are Very Quiet

You might wonder why noise pollution is significant and how it can affect us. In short, noise pollution is unwanted or disturbing sounds. When you’re out and about, you may not realize it at the time, but noise pollution can affect your normal daily activities such as sleeping, conversing, working etc. These sounds can originate from cars, loud motorists, construction sites, transportation, etc. Studies have shown there are direct links to health issues from noise. Problems include productivity loss, high blood pressure, stress-related illnesses, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and speech interference. None of this sounds great, but you’ll be glad to know that ebikes and their manual counterparts create little to no noise.

Ebikes Reduce Road Congestion

The more people switch to ebikes means fewer cars on the road, less road congestion and fewer carbon emissions. It might not seem like a big deal, but it’s quite a significant number if you think about how many people have a car in your country, let alone the world. The more people choose to leave their car at home and use an alternative mode of transportation means traffic can flow faster and smoother.

Ebikes Are Harmless For The Roads

Journeymen build roads to withstand the heaviest loads, but they require maintenance because of general wear and tear and the weather. Riding a 30lbs ebike instead of driving a heavy car is less damaging to our roads. There is less friction and impact, increasing the longevity of our roads. Not to mention, it also reduces the heavy carbon-emitting machinery needed to repair the damage.

Ride Further With An Ebike

The motor in an ebike is what differentiates it from a manual bike. Ebikes come with either a hub motor or crank motor, assisting the rider to travel further and faster without getting exhausted. Ebikes can be a viable alternative to cars when travelling short to medium distances. You can carry heavier loads like groceries or even a toddler with assisted riding!

ENVO has made sure to stock up to prevent supply chain disruptions, so if you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, have a healthier lifestyle, save money and the planet, contact us, and we’ll help you get rolling!
